The California Highway Patrol says the 40-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control, causing the Toyota pick-u to overturn and roll numerous times. The child was thrown from the vehicle.
No one was wearing a seatbelt and the CHP says the accident was likely caused by driver inattention due to cell phone use.
