3 of the 5 whales found dead in the past month in the San Francisco Bay Area are believed to have died after collisions with ships. Instead of the whales generally staying outside of the bay, more have been reportedly coming in. Scientists believe that’s because of a shift in the thermal currents….which is sending their food supply closer to the shoreline inside the bay. Because of that, officials are requesting that ships wait further outside the bay so they won’t endanger wildlife.
