Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

A BIG-RIG CARRYING 30 THOUSAND POUNDS OF FROZEN SQUID FLIPPED ON NORTHBOUND HIGHWAY 1 NEAR THE FISH HOOK IN SANTA CRUZ AT APPROXIMATELY 10:50 A-M TODAY. (MON) THE DRIVER WAS REPORTEDLY GOING TOO FAST FOR THE INTERCHANGE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE SEMI WHEN THE WEIGHT OF THE LOAD SHIFTED. CREWS ATTEMPTED TO RIGHT THE TRUCK AND CLEAN UP THE PARTIALLY SPILLED CARGO, WHILE HEALTH OFFICIALS INSPECTED THE REMAINING LOAD FOR SAFETY. ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC REMAINED OPEN ON HIGHWAYS 1 AND 17 IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AND THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. THE OFFICIAL CAUSE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
