THE SANTA CRUZ WATER COMMISSION HAS CONFIRMED THAT WATER RATIONING WILL BEING MAY 1ST, AND THE SANTA CRUZ CITY COUNCIL WILL LOOK AT UPHOLDING THAT DECISION WHEN IT MEETS LATER THIS MONTH. THE WATER COMMISSION MADE THE RULING YESTERDAY AFTER THEY HEARD THE FINAL SUPPLY OUTLOOK FROM THIS YEAR’S RAINY SEASON. ALTHOUGH THE RAINS IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH DID HELP, IT ONLY IMPROVED THE SEASON TOTAL TO 43 PERCENT OF NORMAL, AND THE SURFACE RUN-OFF IS JUST 13 PERCENT OF THE LONG-TERM AVERAGE.
