YOSEMITE TRAIL CLOSED -   04/08/14 09:20 S.S.

ABOUT 400 FEET OF THE RANCHERIA FALLS TRAIL IN YOSEMITE WAS DESTROYED RECENTLY, WHEN 16 TONS OF ROCK CRASHED DOWN ON IT. THE ROCKS FELL ABOUT 500 FEET DOWN A CLIFF, EAST OF WAPAMA FALLS NEAR THE HETCH HETCHY RESERVOIR. PARK STAFF SAYS ALTHOUGH THE RANCHERIA FALLS TRAIL WILL REMAIN CLOSED IN THAT AREA FOR SOME TIME, HIKERS CAN STILL GET TO THE FALLS BY STARTING AT O’SHAUGHNESSY DAM.
