Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

MOSS LANDING HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF DEALING WITH NOISY SEA LIONS  IN AND AROUND ITS HARBOR. THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CHASE AWAY THE ANIMALS USING MOTION SENSOR WATER SPIGOTS AND AIRSOFT GUNS  IN THE PAST, BUT THESE TACTICS DID NOT WORK FOR LONG. THERE WERE EVEN PEOPLE WHO TRIED WALKING UP TO THE SEA LIONS TO TRY TO VERBALLY “SHOO” THEM AWAY, BUT ENDED UP BEING CHASED AWAY BY THE LIONS THEMSELVES.  HARBORMASTER LINDA McINTYRE HAS PURCHSED NINE AIRDANCERS, THE LARGE INFLATABLE FAN-DRIVEN DEVICES THAT MOVE IN A DANCING OR FLAILING MOTION. THE AIRDANCERS  ARE POSITONED IN VARIOUS SPOTS THROUGHOUT THE SIX HUNDRED AND TEN SHIP HARBOR AND, ACCORDING TO MCINTYRE,  ARE DOING AN EFFECTIVE JOB WITHOUT DISTURBING THE SEA LIONS NATURAL BEHAVIOR
