The 35th unregulated commercial cannabis operation in Santa Cruz county was dismantled late last week. More than 33-hundred plants were found in 9 non-permitted greenhouses on a property on Hill House Road in the Boulder Creek area. Along with the illegal operation, a number of environmental issues (including signs of a landslide from excessive water-use in an adjacent greenhouse) were found. The parcel owner faces possible fines, and the property was red-tagged due to numerous building violations.
The shutdown of other illegal growing operations took place on June 4th……and also in May, April, and January.
There are 72 authorized cultivation sites in Santa Cruz County, and permit reviews are being conducted for more legal growing operations in the county.
