A Drug-Take-Back program will be held later this month in Scotts Valley.   The Scotts Valley Police Department along with the Drug Enforcement Agency is encouraging the public to bring in expired, unused and/or unwanted prescription drugs for disposal on October 26th at the Scotts Valley Police Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   The service is free and anonymous.  In six previous Take Back events, the DEA and it’s partners took in nearly 3-million pounds, over 1,400 tons, of pills.  Studies show rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. continue to rise, along with the number of accidental poisonings, and overdoses due to drugs sitting in home medicine cabinets.
