 A FEDERALLY PROTECTED MIGRATORY BIRD WAS FOUND WITH A GUNSHOT WOUND.    THE BIRD, KNOWN AS AN ELEGANT TERN, WAS FOUND IN CAPITOLA, AND POLICE THEN TURNED THE WOUNDED BIRD OVER TO A NATIVE ANIMAL RESCUE GROUP.  THE BIRD IS CURRENTLY UNDER OBSERVATION, TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE BULLET OR PELLET WILL NEED TO BE SURGICALLY REMOVED.  ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION ON THE INCIDENT IS URGED TO CONTACT THE CAPITOLA POLICE DEPARTMENT.
