Monologue

Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach starting the show outlining why he believes the medical system is broken. Asserting that outcomes can never be good when the system is driven by the for profit pharmaceutical industry. Contending that we as Ameriicans need to change the system by avoiding the drugs and costly procedures.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article about a study of chicken nuggets. Researchers at the University of Mississippi examined chicket nuggets from two major fast food chains. Finding the first one tested contained about 50% chicken muscle from the breast and thigh. The remainder was a mix of fat, blood vessels, nerves and organ tissue. The second nugget barely contained 40% muscle tissue with the rest being a mix of fat cartilage and pieces of bone. Ben asserts that food companies also add chemicals that trick the brain into thinking the stuff tastes good.
