Flooding, Road Closures As Heavy Rains Fall On Saturated Ground

After years of praying for rain, Santa Cruz County has had more than its fill. Looking for something to bet on now that the Super Bowl is in the past? Try betting on whether 17 will stay open!

Take A Look At Some Local Flooding

WATER CUSTOMERS IN THE SAN LORENZO VALLEY COULD EXPECT TO PAY MORE OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS, UNLESS A WRITTEN PROTEST IS MADE BY OVER 3,600 DISTRICT PROPERTY OWNERS.   THE RATE INCREASE WOULD BE THE 3RD INCREASE IN FOUR YEARS FOR THE SLV WATER DISTRICT.   OFFICIALS EXPECT THE HIKE TO GENERATE 9.2 MILLION DOLLARS IN REVENUE, OF WHICH THEY PLAN TO ALLOCATE 75% OF IT TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND 25% TO NEW BUILDING.  A PUBLIC HEARING HAS BEEN SET FOR OCTOBER 24TH.  A SIGNED LETTER PROTESTING THE INCREASE CAN BE SENT TO THE SLV WATER DISTRICT BEFORE THE HEARING.
