THERE HAS BEEN WHAT IS DESCRIBED BY THE C-H-P AS SPIKE IN CAR THEFTS AND AUTOMOTIVE  BURGLARIES IN THE PLEASURE POINT AREA.LAST TUESDAY A 25 YEAR MAN RETURNED FROM SURFING TO FIND HIS VEHICLE STOLEN. ACCORDING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS A THIEF HAD PROBABLY WATHED THE VICTIM HIDE HIS KEY IN THE FENDER WELL BEFORE SURFING.  IT IS A COMMON PRACTICE FOR SURFERS TO STASH THEIR KEYS ON OR NEAR THEIR VEHICLES, AND AUTHORITIES SAY THAT THE RECENT RISE IN VEHICLE THEFTS IS BECAUSE THEIVES HAVE BECOME AWARE OF THIS HABIT AND WATCH SURFERS AS GET READY.
