KING CITY POLICE CHIEF NICK BALDIVIEZ, WHO HAS BEEN ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE SINCE MAY, OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT TODAY.     AFTER 24 YEARS ON THE POLICE FORCE, HE CITED THE NEED FOR NEW LEADERSHIP AS ONE OF HIS REASONS FOR THE DECISION.     BALDIVIEZ DID NOT RETURN TO WORK IN JUNE AS PLANNED AND HIS STATUS HAS BEEN LARGELY UNKNOWN UNTIL TODAY (MONDAY).     POLICE CAPTAIN BRUCE MILLER WILL CONTINUE AS ACTING POLICE CHIEF, AS HE HAS FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS.
