THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY MOSQUITO AND VECTOR CONTROL HAS HAD MOSQUITOES COLLECTED IN THE WATSONVILLE AREA TEST POSITIVE FOR THE WEST NILE VIRUS.    ALSO EARLIER IN AUGUST, A DEAD BIRD TESTED POSITIVE FOR THE DISEASE IN THE THURBER LANEAREA OF SANTA CRUZ.   THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTED CASES OF HUMANS WITH THE WEST NILE VIRUS THIS YEAR IN  SANTA CRUZ COUNTY.  RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EMPTY ALL STANDING WATER OR OTHER MOSQUITO BREEDING SOURCES, AND TO REPORT ALL DEAD BIRDS TO THE WEST NILE VIRUS HOTLINE AT 1-877-968-2473
