THOUSANDS WERE IN ATTENDANCE AT A MEMORIAL AT THE HP PAVILION TODAY (THURSDAY) TO HONOR SANTA CRUZ’S FIRST FALLEN OFFICERS IN THE LINE OF DUTY.    FORMER DEFENSE SECRETARY LEON PANETTA SPOKE OF THE SACRIFICES OF SERGEANT BUTCH BAKER AND DETECTIVE ELIZABETH BUTLER, AS WELL AS THE STRENGTH OF THE COMMUNITY OF THE CENTRAL COAST.   HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS WAVED FLAGS AND SIGNS WITH THEIR HANDS ON THEIR HEARTS TO SEND OFF THE LOCAL OFFICERS THIS MORNING TO THE H.P. PAVILION.
