2 former U.C. – Santa Cruz professors, and a current professor there, have been elected to the American Academy Of Arts And Sciences. Those 3 are professor emerita Angela Davis, professor emeritus James Estes, and professor of psychology Barbara Rogoff. Angela Davis, who retired in 2008, taught the History Of Consciousness and Feminist Studies; while James Estes was a professor of Ecology And Evolutionary Biology, who (among other things) was known for his research on the role of Sea Otters In Coastal Ecosystems.
