This year’s Wharf-To-Wharf Race will be run “virtually”, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 48th annual event is scheduled for July 26th. The 16,000 race entrants are being asked to run the 6-mile event on their own…..using a different route, and adhering to social distancing recommendations issued by the Centers For Disease Control. Although no awards will be given out, racers are welcome to submit their unofficial times onto the Race’s website. On-line race registration will open in mid-May. Each runner will receive a care package that includes tips and tools….for the entrance fee of $35, which is down from the standard $47. The earliest entrants will also receive guaranteed entries into the 2021 race. The money raised by the race will, as usual, continue to provide donations grants and scholarships….to community youth and the running community.
Several other area races have been cancelled so far. They are the Go Green Saint Patrick’s Day Run in Santa Cruz, the Mother’s Day Run in Watsonville, and The Little Wharf 3-Miler in Capitola.
