The body of a man (who worked as a tour guide at a butterfly sanctuary in Mexico) was found just 2 days after the funeral of a man who managed a separate butterfly sanctuary in the same state of Michoacan. Raul Hernandez is believed to have been beaten to death. The investigation into his death is ongoing. Both men were environmentalists that warned that the illegal logging (taking place there), poses a major risk to the butterflies that winter there…..including Monarch Butterflies….which are already decreasing in numbers here on the Central Coast.
