A SALINAS MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO SPEND AN EXTRA 25 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON (FOR ATTEMPTING TO ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY). 23 YEAR-OLD MIKE MARTINEZ HAD ALREADY BEEN SENTENCED TO SPEND 40 YEARS-TO-LIFE IN PRISON FOR HIS PART IN A 2008 DOUBLE HOMICIDE, WHEN HE GOT AWAY FROM MONTEREY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES. HE WAS CAUGHT A SHORT TIME LATER, ABOUT A BLOCK AWAY.
