A trial got underway this week for a Salinas man accused of fatally shooting a man multiple times during a 2011 New Year’s Eve Party. A Defense attorney for 23-year old jose Ocegueda told jurors her client was a developmentally disabled man who panicked during a confrontation the night of the shooting. Meanwhile prosecutors described Ocegueda as a gang-member who shot a Watsonville man without a reason. A neuropsychologist is expected to testify about Ocegueda’s developmental disabilities. Testimony is expected to continue through today.
