2 people died in 2 separate accidents on Highway 17 this weekend. The driver of a northbound pick-up truck was declared dead late Friday night, after he was ejected from his vehicle (when it hit the rear of a sedan and overturned near Scotts Valley). The second person was hit and killed on southbound 17 near Los Gatos just after 8 a.m. this morning (Saturday) when the driver of a septic truck lost control of his vehicle (which was traveling on Black Road parallel to Highway 17) and it crashed into the southbound lanes of Highway 17 near the Lexington Reservoir, hitting a Mercedes-Benz and a pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up truck was declared dead at the scene, and the drivers of the septic truck and the Mercedes were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. In both accidents Highway 17 was closed for a number of hours.
