The first Covid-19-related death of a patient at Santa Cruz Post Acute has been reported. She was in her 80s, and had underlying health issues. As of Monday, Santa Cruz Post Acute said they had 29 residents, and 9 staff members, who had tested positive for Covid-19. The first case there was reported on November 7th. Santa Cruz Post Acute is the 3rd congregate living facility in the county to experience an outbreak of the virus ….and it’s the largest skilled nursing facility in the county….with more than 100 people living there. 14 residents and 10 staff members at Maple House 2, in the Live Oak area of Santa Cruz, currently have Covid-19, while the outbreak at Watsonville Post Acute earlier this fall (which appears to have run its course) sickened more than half the residents, and some staff members.
