A 17 year-old girl died this morning after she was hit by a motorcycle, as she walked across a Salinas street near Northridge Mall. 29 year-old Salinas resident Anthony Bennett was driving the motorcycle (that hit her) without insurance (or a California driver’s license), although he did have a suspended license out of Oregon. He was reportedly test-driving a motorcycle he was considering buying when he went through a red light at about 90 miles per hour and crashed into the teen. When Bennett attempted to flee from the scene, several witnesses held onto him until police arrived. Bennett faces charges of vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving causing death, and driving without a license or insurance.
