AN ELDERLY SALINAS BYCYCLIST WAS KILLED WHEN HE WAS HIT BY AN S-U-V AFTER HE RAN A STOP SIGN. THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE AT 4:15 P-M SATURDAY ON CONSTITUTION BOULEVARD, BETWEEN BORONDO ROAD AND FREEDOM PARKWAY. POLICE SOURCES SAY THAT 79-YEAR OLD PETRONIO YASAY ROLLED THROUGH A STOP SIGN AND WAS STRUCK BY A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY 37-YEAR OLD MARIA SERRANO. YASAY DIED AT THE SCENE AND OFFICERS SAY NO CHARGES ARE EXPECTED TO BE FILED AGAINST THE DRIVER. THIS WAS THE 11TH FATAL ACCIDENT IN SALINAS THIS YEAR.
