The 102 year-old red caboose, that is adjacent to the new Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Center For Ocean Education And Leadership building, is up for sale. The 20-ton Western Pacific Wood Caboose number 641 was built in 1916 as an outside-braced boxcar, and it stands 14 feet tall, 10 feet wide, and 45 feet long. For the last 44 years, it’s been a railroad memorabilia shop, and the current owners plan to sell the memorabilia separately from the caboose.
