8 Valley Transit Authority employees were shot and killed this morning in San Jose, and others were hospitalized. The shooter (who was also a v-t-a- employee) has also died. F-b-i agents have now arrived at the V.T.A.’s Guadalupe light rail yard to help with the investigation into this morning’s shooting at the facility.
Some local roads have been closed, and people are asked to stay away from the area. V.T.A. will be shutting down their light rail service at noon today….and bus bridges will be put in place.
The re-unification center has been moved to the Isaac Newton Auditorium at 70 West Hedding Street. A phone number that family and friends can call for information is (408) 299 – 2311. There’s a separate number for V.T.A. employees and their families….and that number is (408) 321-7550.
A building in the transit yard is currently being searched by the Santa Clara County Bomb Team at this time, as there is concern that one or more devices may have been placed there.
A vigil is scheduled to be held this evening to honor the victims. It’s slated to begin at 6 p.m. in front of San Jose City Hall.
